Deputies: Robeson County casino manager, suspect both shot during armed robbery; suspect later dies

ROBESON COUNTY, NC (WMBF) - A man is dead and another man is injured following a Thursday night attempted armed robbery at a casino in Robeson County.

Robeson County Sheriff’s Office said at 9:41 p.m., 30-year-old Gerald Cooper entered the Lucky Clover Arcade on Highway 72 with a gun and shot his weapon an unknown amount of times.

During this time, security at the arcade discharged their gun. Cooper was shot during the exchange of gunfire and fled the scene.

The manager of the Lucky Clover Arcade was shot during the exchange of gunfire and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, he is said to be in stable condition.

Deputies searched the area for Cooper and found him in a wooded area near Journey Road.

Cooper was taken to the hospital and later died from his injuries.
